One of my favorite pictures from the very first time I ever went to Pickerell Lake is of this long-dead tree. That was on a summer day probably ten years ago.
It's no longer summer.
It's still there, tall and stark and completely inexplicably standing stalwart off the dock. And it's absolutely beautiful in its silvery simplicity.
Let's see if I can get a better shot--one where the light hits it.
