Day Six

Our movie theater has a wonderful series called, "Celebrating the Classics." Every week on Tuesday and Thursday, one can watch a different classic movie for $2.50 -- The African Queen, White Christmas, To Kill a Mockingbird, North by Northwest, and many, many others. I love this series and I go every week. Sadly, last week was the final run until September. Featured was The Greatest Show on Earth about the life of times of a certain circus.

I can't wait for September!

Day five

Housekeeping note: I'm not likely to get any pictures up this weekend, so I'll be posting three days on Monday...but I'll separate them into different posts, so they'll still be easy to manage. Or because I prefer it that way. Whichever.

Yesterday, Vicky took me to the last day of Meijer Gardens' "The Butterflies are Blooming!" Thanks to the gray and rain, the light inside was quite low and shots were difficult to get, though I think we both managed a few. One that I love that turned out better than I'd hoped for is below.





This is the Atlas moth--it's huge and stunning and I did get a picture or two of the moth itself. But I prefer this picture in which the reflections tell the story.

Day four

I'm sure that, in the future, I'll be hard pressed to find even one picture a day. As it is now, I'm having difficulty narrowing things down. So today, we have three!

The first is from our wander 'round Charleston. I loved this street of brick row houses heading down to one of the piers.




Pulling into my parking space this morning, I saw the sun through the haze of early morning clouds and thought, "There's today's picture!" Then I played around with the image and discovered an effect I loved below...very apocalypticy or something.

They won't all be flower pictures, I promise. It is springtime, though, and I love flowers, so there'll be a fair few.

Day two

And so it begins...

About a year and a half ago, my cousin Jen (project365jen in the sidebar) started a project: she would take a picture every day for a year and post it. Her photography has improved and she's gotten some incredible and very creative shots simply by being forced to practice daily.

Inspired by her example (and by my long-overdue purchase of a digital camera), I've decided to do the same. I'll never be a professional photographer, and I'm just fine with that. But I do absolutely love to take pictures.

These first few days will be filled with cheating...or rather, I'm going to post a bunch of retroactive pictures, so pretend I actually started the blog a couple of weeks ago. I'll try to intersperse them with newer pictures as I have the chance.

Oh, yes, and the web address is due to my best friend's husband. I have a Panasonic Lumix. Pronounced Loo-mix. He is amused to call it my lummox camera. Hilarity ensues.
